The sound of claws scraping sidewalk screeched as a rottweiler raced through the city. She ran wildly; pumping her legs, tongue lolling out from the long run. She had just been abandoned by a pair of cruel nopelts and was now trying to despreatly escape the deadly nopelt monsters. While sitting on the roadside, the dog had saw what one monster did to a crossing feline and the rott knew she stood no chance against them. Pausing, she stood near a street light and breathed heavily, panting like mad. Nopelts looked at her with wide eyes. The rottie could smell fear on most of them. She wondered why, but didn't have long to ponder, for soon a band of nopelts were racing towards her, armed with strange devices. The rottweiler took one look and continued her run, going for an odd place full of weird metal devices. A few nopelts and their young were playing, but that was all. Streaking past them, she rushed to the thicket on the other side. She all but jumped into it, turning around hastily to see if the nopelts dared pursuit. They didn't, which unnerved her slightly. And then she noticed: The stench of many other dogs masked the calming scent of trees. They were all fresh, and the dog slowly became aware that they were constantly near by. Fearing the worst, the dog decieded to wait until the nopelts left, and would then leave the thicket. She laid down and waited, still trying to catch her breath.

Marcy the Young English Springer Spaniel just so happened to be in the park, she blinked and looked at Spider, "Hey!" she barked loudly, "Wy are you running?" she asked, she c o c koed her head and pranced over towards her.

Spider, being so tensed, jumped as the spaniel bounded over to her. The spaniel's coat gleamed a honeyish color in the sun and the black specks truly stuck out. Spider's first impression was, Whoa! Look at the hair on that dog! She had never before seen an English springer spaniel, and their looks surprised her. They had an awful lot of fur! Their ears, however, DID seem familiar and Spider realized them to be that of a Charles King spaniel. She wagged her tail, congradulating herself when the dog spoke.
"Well I was running because these nopelts...Hey! Watch out!" The two nopelts were now rushing towards the spaniel, odd equimpement in hand. Spider sprung up, but was unsure about what to do.

Marcy quickly turned around, her teeth bared, she snarled at the humans and leaped on one, "Eh, these things? Their nuthing but losers! they try to frighten you but it turns you we frighten them more. The names Marcy of the Dysis Pack, what can I do ya for?" She leaped of the nopelt and barked at it lightly, sat down and turned her head towards Spider with a delightful c o ck of her head.

Spider looked on in admiration as Marcy leapt on the humans, snarling. One put up a little fight, but then they both ran off. Quite impressed, Spider gave a loud bark and turned to Marcy. "Wow...I didn't know they were that weak!" She smiled at Marcy, happy for someone to talk withl
"Hello Marcy," Spider dipped her head in gretting. "I'm Spider. The Dysis Pack? Oh! Is that why all the dogs are here?" Spider was almost certain that the Dysis Pack's dogs were the ones leaving all the scents. She felt safer knowing that at least one of them was friendly.

"Yeah, nopelts are pretty weak, but some no how to get to ya. Anyways, yeah my pack has lots f territory so we all split up and check if anybody has been on it or not." she expained. "Nice to meet you Spider, tell me, what is a pup like you doing on dangerous streets like this?" she sked smileing, "Technically, this is a park, but still you catch my drift."

Spider shifted nervously at the question, looking down at her shuffling paws. Bright sunlight beamed in from openings in the trees' leaves and danced on Marcy's and Spider's pelt. Birds sang overhead. Everything had grown peaceful since the nopelts had left. Bringing her head up, she looked Marcy in the eyes.
"Well, I was abandoned by two nopelts. They left me out on the side of the street." She was a bit embarrassed by it all, but knew that Marcy would understand.

"Filthy rotten nopelts, I ought to ripp'em to shreds!" she snapped, "Understandable, not ALL noplets are good, but still.....do you need a plae to stay hun?" she asked looking down at her, "Or are you content the way you are?"

At Marcy's remark, Spider shrank back suddenly. The sweet dog obviously had a rough, mean side to her. No wonder, since she was a member of a pack. You had to be tough to survive. To answer Marcy's question, Spider responded, "Well, not exactly...I have no idea where to go." She spoke the truth. She was running blindly a few minutes ago and now that she put some thought into it, she had absoluty no idea as to where to head to next. She shifted nervoulsy, wondering why Marcy asked.

Spider tilted her head in thought. Stay with the pack? Forever? Or just a short while? Spider was not as stupid as to think she could survive on her own, but at the same time, she wasn't so sure about joining a pack just yet. She'd like to meet them first. Marcy said they were nice, but some might not take a liking to her..."Can I meet them first?" Spider finally croaked.

"Sure you can, but there really is nobdoy there beside me and a couple of dogs. Since we have so much territory we all splite up to make sure nobody we don't know is liveing on it. So if nobody is there, don't be alarmed." she said smileing, she sat down and looked at her, "Want to go now?"

Spider considered Marcy's offer for a fleeting second before nodding and rising to her feet. It couldn't hurt to meet them, could it? She shook herself, causing all the leaves that had settled on her dark black pelt to sway softly to the ground. She smiled at Marcy and told her, "You lead the way."
